When InfoTechID President and Co-founder Nakul Kapadia and CTO and Co-founder Aaron Hutchings first crossed paths, it was under the fluorescent lights of a booming PBM (pharmacy benefit manager). Little did they know, this meeting would be the spark that ignited an impactful partnership aimed at addressing some of the most frustrating challenges in the tech industry: talent recruitment. Now, years later, this partnership has culminated in the creation of InfoTechID, a potentially impactful platform designed to vastly elevate and streamline the tech hiring process.
The Visionaries Behind InfoTechID
Kapadia, with over two decades of experience driving enterprise growth through IT at a major pharmaceutical company, has firsthand insight into the inefficiencies and frustrations of corporate recruitment, especially in the fast-evolving tech landscape. “I was one of the early tech professionals at a startup that grew into a $6 billion company. Over those ten years, I managed everything tech, including handling a growing IT team that expanded from two to a hundred people.” This extensive and frustrating experience of trying to hire the right talent made him realize the need for more effective solutions. “Traditional recruitment involves navigating multiple job platforms and paying hefty fees to recruiters that often lead to a ton of wasted time and high costs.”
Likewise, Hutchings’s career has included a number of technology roles, each one deepening his understanding of the gaps in business processes. It was these hands-on experiences, combined with his frustration with traditional recruitment methods, that led Hutchings to conceptualize InfoTechID.
“My skills began to evolve as I navigated different roles and worked with a number of different recruiters to hire developers for my team. The process was chaotic and inefficient, and that’s when the idea for the SaaS platform came to me. I wanted to create a solution that would eliminate that mess and focus on achieving the specific goal of finding the right talent quickly and effectively,” remarks Hutchings.
Hutchings and Kapadia put their heads together and created a platform that could cut through the clutter and connect the right tech talent with the right opportunities. “With our platform IT professionals and teams as well as recruiters can bypass the inefficiencies of traditional job sites and archaic, oversimplified recruitment processes,” Kapadia explains.
The Problem: A Broken Tech Recruitment System
“The genesis for InfoTechID came from the disconnect between job descriptions, company’s expectations, and the actual skill sets of candidates,” explains Hutchings. “Traditional recruitment platforms over-rely on generic job titles and keyword searches.”
“This often results in mismatches between candidates and roles,” adds Kapadia. “Employers are inundated with resumes that look promising on the surface but fail to deliver in practice, while other more skilled candidates struggle to find opportunities that truly match their expertise.”
One of the key issues the duo identified was the lack of definition of the technical needs in job postings. When companies listed job requirements on platforms like LinkedIn or Dice, they often received applications from individuals whose skills were either outdated or mismatched for the specific needs of the role. The rapid evolution of technology meant that a candidate who once excelled in a particular programming language might no longer be a fit, yet traditional recruitment methods lacked the precision to discern these nuances.
Hutchings explains, “Another big issue the industry faces today is the use of AI tools to re-write or misrepresent a person’s qualifications. It’s a practice plaguing the industry where someone is really a cat, but the company is looking for a dog. The person or ‘cat’ creates a resume to make themselves look like a dog, preventing actual dogs from getting the interview, as the cat presents itself as the perfect impostor. Our product prevents this from happening, allowing companies to find the right fit and clearing up the chaos.”
“The traditional recruitment process,” according to Hutchings, “can sometimes lead to a disconnect between recruiters, employers, and candidates, which may result in challenges and frustrations for everyone involved.”
The Solution: A New Approach to Tech Recruitment
To address these challenges, InfoTechID has a sophisticated profile structure that allows candidates to showcase their skills, experience, and expertise in a way that goes far beyond the traditional resume. This structure enables employers to see a comprehensive and up-to-date picture of a candidate’s technical capabilities to ensure a more precise match between the job requirements and the individual’s skill set.
One of the standout features of the platform is its profile comparison tool, which allows employers to evaluate multiple candidates side by side and across locations, departments, and teams. This collaborative tool enables hiring managers to share their insights with other stakeholders, fostering a more transparent and efficient decision-making process. The comparison tool not only streamlines the selection process but also enhances the accuracy of hiring decisions, reducing the likelihood of costly mismatches.
For startups, where the stakes of hiring the right team are especially high, InfoTechIDs offers a unique solution: the ability to hire an entire tech team together. Hutchings explains, “This feature allows founders to quickly assemble a cohesive, compatible team, ensuring that they can hit the ground running and innovate from day one.”
Looking Ahead: The Future of InfoTechIDs
As Hutchings and Kapadia reflect on their journey so far, they remain focused on their mission to transform tech hiring and recruitment. InfoTechID is not just a tool; it’s a solution born out of real-world experiences and frustrations and the desire to create a more efficient and effective hiring process. By addressing the specific pain points that both employers and candidates face, InfoTechID is paving the way for a more targeted and reliable approach to tech recruitment.
Looking to the future, the founding pair are committed to continuously refining and expanding their platform to meet the evolving needs of the tech industry. With the global recruitment market poised for significant growth, InfoTechID is ready to play a crucial role in helping organizations find the right talent to drive their success.
