The saying goes that “hard times create hard people,” but that might need to be changed to “hard times create hard rock.” Formed at the height of the pandemic, GXTP, the American rock group featuring Jason Paul, Sasha Sirota, and Triple Sixx, continues to crash the rock scene with their gut-punching songs. Their newest single, “Te’Kill’Ya,” hit the world stage on October 25th. Featuring top artists Killer Mike and Carlos Santana, this song blends different talents and genres, coming together to create an eclectic, jet-fueled experience.
GXTP first came together as a group during the peak COVID-19 weeks in 2020. Inspired by these brutal times, the artists soon developed their signature uncanny look and style. Their name is an abbreviation of “Guns and Toilet Paper,” the two things that most dominated the news cycle at that moment. With an irreverent attitude, the writing and music of GXTP became a dark reflection of society.
GXTP first made their mark on the music world with their successful second single, “Contraband.” This song featured a collaboration with the legendary Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. “Contraband” rocketed them into the spotlight. They would soon follow up with more successful singles, including “Accusation” and “Lust & Purity.”
In 2023, GXTP released their debut album, Smoke & Mirrors, through NFARTAM Ltd. This album included their recent hit single and more, culminating in a collection that is both an homage to the old gods of rock and a bold stride into the genre’s future. Their unique sound combines raw, unfettered emotion with complex artistry and chords.
GXTP also leaves a lingering impression with their uniquely stunning visuals. The music videos for “Contraband” and “Lust & Purity” feature their cutting style and pair it with intense vocals. “Lust & Purity” displays the group’s prowess for visual storytelling as well as audio, borrowing from conventions of the 90s music video scene while still carving their own space in the genre.
With the release of “Te’Kill’Ya,” GXTP continues their tradition of wry commentary and energetic sounds. A play on the word “tequila,” the song maintains the ironic humor that the group developed in their roots. To bring “Te’Kill’Ya” into the world, GXTP collaborated with the music titans Killer Mike and Carlos Santana.
Sasha Sirota has commented on the experience of creating “Te’Kill’Ya,” stating, “I already feel honored and blessed to share the sonic playfield with my brothers Triple Sixx and Jason Paul, and now to have a banger with the legendary Santana and Killer Mike is something I could’ve never seen coming and couldn’t be happier about.”
GXTP will continue shaking up the rock world with their next album, Reloaded, which is primed to release this November. Anyone wanting to keep up with these rising stars can visit their social media sites on Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Fans can get on their mailing list on their official website.
Each decade has defined the heroes of the rock world. With their edgy styles, wry humor, and COVID-inspired commentary, GXTP might be the band for the 2020s. If you don’t want to miss the latest movement in rock, tune in to “Te’Kill’Ya.”
