In a bit of good news, former president and first lady, Barack and Michelle Obama and will be giving commencement speeches for the class of 2020. This will be part of a virtual commencement ceremony. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic caused the cancellation of countless graduation ceremonies. Many students requested for the Obamas to give commencement speeches. Students wanted a make up for the lack of a live ceremony, and the popular former first family listened.
Quarantine Commencement
The Obamas will be delivering commencement speeches on YouTube on June 6th. Of course, other celebrities like Alicia Keys and Zendaya will be joining in on the event. Check out a more extensive listing below.

While the Obamas are the main event, some of the other figures delivering speeches are surely going to be eagerly anticipated as well. Malala Yousafzai is a prominent feminist figure who was shot in the head for standing up for woman’s education. She survived and became a hero in her own right and will also be part of the ceremony.
Another fun group of guest speakers on the list are the Try Guys. They are a group who made their claim to fame trying anything on YouTube. They successfully built a brand off of being willing to try anything, which will certainly inspire the class of 2020. The entire list of speakers will make for a great ceremony for this year’s graduating class of seniors. Certainly it’s indicative of a changing world trying to adjust to an ongoing worldwide pandemic.
Although the guest list is vast, the Obamas are certainly the main draw. One thing the American people loved about them was their ability to inspire hope — something the entire world could use at this time. The couple has tried to stay away from the political problems of today, but it’s great that they’re stepping up to the podium once more to continue to inspire a whole new generation.
